Update from Gabe's Doctors Appointment

Yesterday we went to Gabe's Doctors Appointment. It is amazing to see how much he has grown in the past year. Since his four year checkup he has gained 5 pounds and grown 4 inches. I was so excited because I sometimes worry about Gabe because he is so skinny. The Doctor thinks by the time he hits his eighteenth birthday he will be about 5'9. Nick was relived to hear that little tidbit because he is so worried that Gabe is going to be a "midget". The doctor was impressed with what he knows and was a little surprised that we did not send him to school this year....I still think we made a good decision on that one! Everything was fine until the Doctor mentioned the word "shots". We had told Gabe that he would probably get one or two shots but, when the doctor said he was going to get five shots... He was done being "brave". So, the nurse came in and we (the nurse and I) had to hold Gabe down for his five shots and he SCREAMED the entire time! The good news is that we do not have to have shots again until he is 11.. guess who won't be going to that appointment? ME!!! Plus, If we have to hold him down when he is 11 we might have other issues going on at that point.

If shots are still an issue at 11, you may wish Gabe was a midget!!!

That is so funny! Mikenzie was so sad at her five year old check up too, and wasn't happy about the shots. And now she reminds the doctor each time, "we don't get anymore shots until we are 11". I wonder if flu shots count? Quinnton had to have six today. Life isn't fun! But healthy.

Poor Gabe. Guess what conversation Ava and I had allllll afternoon today. She even managed to eek out a few tears for me, just so I would know how truly terrified she is to get shots at the age of five.

Kim-Poor Quinnton, at least he has no idea what is coming his way!! Where's your blog??

Emily- I am so sorry maybe she will forget about it?. Gabe said the blessing tonight at dinner and he thanked god for family, food, and Ava! Sooo Sweet!

Oh! Gabe is sooo sweet :) I love that he and Ava are such good friends. Don't be sorry. . . Ava likes to have anything to be dramatic about!

Ooohh...shots! Lydia has some coming up in a few weeks, and she's just at the age where they start remembering things! No more happy doctor trips! And I imagine that we will replay some version of this in our household when Iris gets her next round at age five!

At least it's over...for awhile, right? Thank goodness!
